No. The Bradshaw Animal Shelter is currently closed to walk in-traffic. However, license renewal walk-ins are available on a limited basis from 12PM to 4:30PM Tuesday thru Sunday (except holidays), and most our regular services are now available by appointment and online.

We are processing adoptions for dogs, cats, kittens, rabbits and other pets by appointment only. The public must follow all local Public Health mandates including the use of face coverings and social distancing during their appointment. For details, visit saccounty.net/covid-19.

Please follow the steps below: 

  • Step 1: Visit BradshawShelter.net​ to see all available pets and write down the 7- digit animal number of the pet(s) you are interested in. 
  • Step 2: Call 916-875-2287 (9:30am-3:30pm Tuesday thru Sunday except Holidays) to receive adoption counseling and to schedule an adoption appointment with a shelter representative. 
  • Step 3: Visit the shelter during your scheduled appointment. 
    • Bring a valid I.D. 
    • $25 Adoption fee (cash/credit/debit accepted)
    • Face coverings and social distancing are required during your visit.

Sacramento Shelter Pets Alive (SSPA) is processing adoptions of all large breed dogs currently in foster care by appointment. Visit saccountydogs.com to apply. If you have questions regarding the status of a submitted applications, please email sacramentocountydogs@gmail.com​.​

Owners of lost pets should visit animalcare.saccounty.net/lostfoundpets​ and follow the steps at the top of the page. Our list of lost pets currently at the shelter is updated every 30 minutes.

At this time, we are accepting all stray dogs and sick, injured or pregnant stray pets. For a list of stray pet resources, visit the Have you found my pet?​ page before visiting the shelter.

Our RTF program is closed. However, sick, injured and pregnant cats will be accepted. Call 311 for assistance. If you want to schedule a spay/neuter appointment for RTF cats please call Animal Outreach at 530-642-2287 for an appointment at their facility in Diamond Springs while availability lasts. You may also call Community Spay and Neuter​ (the clinic next to our shelter) at 916-368-7314 for spay/neuter appointments.

Yes. The Bark Park remains open and is considered an outdoor activity. Mandatory guidelines for outdoor activities including face covering and the practice of social distancing can be found at saccounty.net/covid-19​.

The shelter is always grateful for donations and a list of items can be found by visiting animalcare.saccounty.net/makeagift. To help with special medical needs, monetary donations made payable to the shelter’s non-profit affiliate, T.E.A.M. are always appreciated. 

Yes. Licenses are being processed online, by mail and via walk-ins. 

  • Online: Renew your license online at animalcare.saccounty.net/licensing
  • By Mail: Send a completed application, check, proof of spay/neuter, and proof of rabies vaccination* to: Bradshaw Animal Shelter, 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento, CA 95827 
  • Walk-In: License purchases will be processed on a limited basis from 12PM to 4:30PM Tuesday thru Sunday at the shelter, except holidays. Current rabies certificate is required.* Licenses are $15 for altered pets and $50 for unaltered pets. 
*If you are unable to provide proof of a current rabies vaccination at this time, please pay your licensing fee and a temporary license will be issued. You will be able to provide proof of rabies vaccination at a later date via email at countyanimalcare@saccounty.net​. ​

Citations can be cleared via walk-ins at the shelter from 12PM to 4:30PM Tuesday thru Sunday, except holidays.
