Volunteer Information Center

UPDATE: At this time, we are not accepting new volunteers due to COVID-19. We hope to re-open the program time in 2021, with an estimated timeframe TBD. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we determine and redefine our volunteer needs based upon revised shelter operations.

Volunteers Make a Difference!

Join like-minded people and make new friends, both two and four-legged! As a team, staff and volunteers care for more than 14,000 animals every year that come to us as strays, surrendered by their owners, and confiscations for cruelty, neglect, and abandonment.  The time and talent of our animal-loving volunteers are essential to providing each one quality care and a chance for a new and happy life. We’re all here, for one thing, the animals, and together, we can make a difference!

How can I help?

Committed volunteers are essential! Volunteers contribute throughout most of our operations through socializing, feeding/cleaning, providing excellent customer service, helping reunite lost pets with their people, and helping with mobile adoption events and fundraisers.

How Do I Get Involved? *

For those at least 18 years of age*, the first step to volunteering is to attend a New Volunteer Orientation.

Important information to read BEFORE ATTENDING ORIENTATION:

If you’ve read the important pre-orientation information and are ready to proceed, then we look forward to seeing you at the next orientation:

  • Orientations have been canceled until further notice.

Orientation is held in our classroom, 3839 Bradshaw Road. The application will be provided at orientation, so please bring a pen. There is no need to RSVP, but please do arrive a few minutes early, as we start on time.
